The SOAR and ROAR challenges kicked off this week for GMU students in Grades 1 and 2!

Sit Often And Read (SOAR) challenges first-graders to read 100 books, using Epic books for kids. Each student will receive prizes and a feather for every 10 books read. Teacher Elisa Heggenstaller will take a pie in the face from first-graders who hit 100 books.

Read Often And Review (ROAR) challenges second-graders to read books and then write reviews using a standard template. Students will receive a dinosaur-egg prize and add a tooth to our currently Toothless T-Rex each time they complete five book reviews. Those who write 25 book reviews will have the opportunity to slime Mrs. Heggenstaller or her dino helper, Lauren Weidman.
