GMU to end outdoor mask mandate

Beginning Wednesday, June 9, the Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District will no longer require face coverings for outdoor activities on school property. This includes recess, physical education classes, athletic events, and any other outdoor activity on school grounds.

Superintendent Annette Hammond and studentsGMU Superintendent Annette Hammond announced the update Tuesday, June 8, in accordance with recent changes to The New York State Department of Health’s Interim Guidance for In-Person Instruction At Pre-K To 12 Schools During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.

Superintendent Hammond asks all GMU parents/guardians to have a conversation with your child(ren) so they are aware of your wishes with regard to wearing or not wearing masks outside when they are at school.

Face coverings are still required for indoor activities on school grounds and while riding GMU school buses.

An automatic-notification phone call is scheduled for 6 p.m. today. GMU stakeholders are encouraged to read the latest NYSDOH Guidance online at https://on.ny.gov/3x6JJ09. If you have questions and/or need more information, please call the District Office at 607-783-2207.
