Grange donates 'Words to Thirds'

Students, donors pose during dictionary day (1/2020)

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton thanks the Gilbertsville chapter of the New York State Grange for donating dictionaries to our third-graders on Friday, January 31.

Butternut Valley Grange President Roger Halbert (back row, second from left) and other local members presented a Webster’s Dictionary for Students to each of our third-graders. The annual “Words for Thirds” program is part of the Grange's national Dictionary Project.

The United States Grange was founded in 1867 as The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry. It is the oldest American agricultural advocacy group with a national scope.

The Butternut Valley Grange is the eighth-largest of the 160-plus chapters in New York.
