Senior of the Month: Alyssa Devine
GMU Senior of the Month
Alyssa Devine, May 2021
The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Student Council is thrilled to recognize Alyssa Devine as its Senior of the Month for May 2021!

Alyssa Devine (2021)Alyssa is the embodiment of perseverance; she knows what it means to overcome adversity and retain a positive, optimistic attitude. Alyssa spreads kindness and cheer among her peers and throughout the school community. She joyfully and enthusiastically shows up for extracurricular activities, lending her support and asking for nothing in return.

Alyssa has accepted academic challenges and proven her capabilities through hard work. Her selfless contributions and tireless work toward the betterment of the community will continue as part of SUNY Delhi’s Criminal Justice program.

Rounding out her final year in high school, Alyssa has undertaken a work study with Springfield Truck and Tractor, LLC, where she quickly made herself indispensable. She learned the virtue of hard work on her grandparents’ farm, finding time to be a valuable resource for her family in between school work, homework, work study and extracurricular activities.

This generous spirit is what fuels Alyssa’s involvement in all the activities that make school an enriching and diverse experience. She is also vice president of Yearbook – her second year contributing to The Vallerian – and serves the Student Council as vice president of the Class of 2021.

As graduation approaches, Alyssa has been an essential force in making high school memories tangible and poignant for her classmates. Fifty years from now, Alyssa’s goodwill will resonate as an indelible aspect of those reflections of time at GMU.
