Doctor joins SBHC at GMU
Bassett’s School-Based Health Center at Gilbertsville-Mount Upton welcomes Dr. Gina O’Brien, a Rotterdam native with extensive pediatric experience.

Dr. Gina O'Brien (1/11/2021)Dr. O’Brien recently completed her MBA from The Isenberg School of Management in Massachusetts and typically will be on site three days a week to provide medical care to GMU students enrolled in the SBHC program. Her appointment makes GMU’s in-school facility the first Bassett Healthcare Network SBHC staffed by a doctor.

Dr. O’Brien also graduated from Siena College (1987, BS Biology) and Georgetown University School of Medicine (1996, MD). She completed Pediatric Residency Training at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson in 1999 and became a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) through the American Association of Physician Leadership in 2017.

Dr. O’Brien and her husband of 25 years, Liam, have two sons – Connor and Aidan – and a Standard Poodle named Lucy.

The SBHC is open during school days for well-child visits, immunizations, flu shots and physicals. SBHC staff also can conduct COVID-19 testing for any student enrolled in a school-based health program. Telehealth options are available as well.
