G-MU hosts annual cleanup day
In late April, the Gilbertsville-Mount Upton School District hosted its annual Community Cleanup Day.

More than 130 students and staff went into the community and helped residents do a variety of jobs, including painting, raking, weeding, and picking up sticks. Students and staff were at 18 locations throughout Gilbertsville and Mount Upton. The locations were community members who had requested assistance.

The College for Every Student program helped purchase t-shirts and lunch for all involved.

Students felt rewarded after helping residents who could not perform the jobs independently.

“A school district is the hub of a community and it’s important that we give back to our towns,” G-MU Superintendent Annette Hammond said. “I’m extremely proud of our students and staff for working so hard to help our community during this annual event.”
