GMU, UV study athletics merger
GMU and UV logosThe Gilbertsville-Mount Upton and Unadilla Valley Boards of Education have established a task force to discuss the possibility of combining all sports programs and drafting an Athletic Merger Plan.

Parents, students, and community members from both districts are invited to share their thoughts on a potential merger of sports programs between the two districts. You can provide the Task Force with any feedback you would like via a Google Form. Input from our communities will provide valuable information that will help the Task Force determine whether a merger is viable and, if so, develop one athletics plan for both districts.

The Task Force will meet regularly from February to May to discuss district options and evaluate the possibility of creating one consistent, dependable and sustainable athletic plan intended to provide more opportunities for student-athletes in each district.

A Task Force representative will be present at each district’s board of education meetings for the remainder of the year, to share progress. As always, our school communities are invited to attend our board of education meetings to hear these updates. Once the Task Force has completed its work, an Athletic Merger Plan is expected to be unveiled to each community at a public forum in late May, then presented with public comments to each board of education in June.

Superintendents, principals and athletic directors from both districts will serve on the Task Force, which will be facilitated by retired superintendent Gray Stevens.

If you have feedback, thoughts or comments for the Task Force to consider, please add them to the Google Form by April 30.
