COVID-19 Notice - 10/12/2021
Dear Gilbertsville-Mount Upton School District Families and Staff,

We were advised today (Tuesday, October 12, 2021) that someone in our school community has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. We have been working with Chenango and/or Otsego County Department of Health as they coordinate efforts to trace and contact any staff or students that may have been exposed to the virus. Any students or staff affected by this exposure have already been notified.

We understand that this is difficult news for all and it carries with it, potentially heavy implications for staff, students and families. Rest assured the safety and health of our COVID-19 Update illustration (10/2021)students and staff are, and will continue to be our top priority.

If you have questions regarding the COVID-19 virus, please visit the Chenango or Otsego County Department of Health website or call The Novel Coronavirus Hotline at 1-888-364-3065. If you or a family member is exhibiting symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (fever, cough, and shortness of breath), please contact your primary healthcare provider first before going to an urgent care or emergency facility. Your primary healthcare provider will provide you with further guidance on being tested. Unfortunately, this virus is now in our school community, but I know that we are strong and will get through this by respecting each other’s health privacy and by working together to minimize the spread of this virus.

Please remember that social distancing and good respiratory and hand hygiene are our best defenses against this disease. Stay home and do not go out into public unless you need to.

I will be in touch with any further information I can share with you. Thank you for your understanding. Please be well.

Sincerely,
Annette D. Hammond, Superintendent
