occA

GMU Elementary and Middle/High School have BOTH been named the winners of Otsego County Conservation Association's plastic film recycling contest.

Each group had the highest weight collected per capita--6.78 lbs and 1.88 lbs, respectively. Other schools in the competition were Morris, Cherry Valley-Springfield, Cooperstown, Oneonta, Richfield Springs, Unatego, and Worcester. In total, GMU collected 1,821 pounds of the 4,000 pounds.

The GMU effort was organized by art teacher Ashley Hughes.

The results were announced April 13 at the Earth Festival in Milford. Our prize for winning the contest will be a visit from the Zoomobile in June!
