Important school-closure updates
Food delivery in parking lot (4/2020)

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Superintendent Annette Hammond would like to share the following updates regarding our school closure during the COVID-19 crisis.

1, Our state Governor determines the length of school closures and has extended all closures for New York schools through April 14. Our Governor will make further decisions about the length of school closures every two weeks. GMU will inform students and families of any changes.

2, April 6-13 is designated as Spring Break on our school calendar, but our Governor has said that we cannot take this break in our learning.
At GMU, students need to use next week for the following:
• To catch up on incomplete work
• To focus on social-emotional standards (district-wide)
You will find recommendations for focusing on social-emotional standards on our website and Facebook page. You may follow these recommendations or choose your own. Additionally, our teachers will still call next week to check in with students, who should continue to keep their physical activity logs.

3, The third marking period will end on April 17 as planned and we will be mailing report cards home on or around April 24.

4, For those who receive food, we will deliver as usual on the Mondays during Spring Break (April 6 and 13).

5, Those who are having difficulty completing school work because of poor or no internet service may access GMU’s school internet from our parking lots next week. Feel free to drive to school and and work inside your vehicle or on the lawn outside to complete work, always remembering the importance of remaining at least six feet from anyone you do not live with.

Do not hesitate to call the school and leave a message if you need help or have any questions. Please take care of yourselves.
