Can we recycle this?

Wondering what to bring in for the Otsego County Conservation Association’s 2020 Plastic Film Recycling Challenge? Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Art Teacher Ashley Hughes explains what we can accept in this short Facebook video.

Please watch Ashley walk us through the types of recyclable plastic film that can help GMU successfully defend its county titles, as well as the stuff we have to trash. Remember, if it stretches and you can fit your hand inside, it's most likely acceptable. But when in doubt, throw it out!

Acceptable plastic items include:
* Bubble wrap
* Case overwrap
* Newspaper sleeves
* Bags (bread, cereal, dry cleaning, grocery, ice, produce, salt, wood pellet, re-closable)

We'll be collecting clean, dry plastic film until April 1. Students can give acceptable items to their teachers (elementary) or class advisors (MS/HS). Community members are welcome to participate as well and may deliver items to the main office. For more information, email Ashley at [email protected].

Thank you for helping out students keep plastic film out of the landfill!
