At Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School, "It’s the Quality of the journey that counts!
A picturesque, rural school district in central New York, GMU is nestled in the heart of the Butternut Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful nature. We are a true community school, located between the towns of Mount Upton and Gilbertsville on State Highway 51. The District is home to approximately 315 students in grades PK-12.
The District prides itself on providing students a family-like environment for learning, balanced with tremendous opportunities using the newest technology available. Our vision is to provide a high-quality education to each student, with innovative courses and a knowledgeable teaching staff.
GMU has set high standards for its staff and students. One of our goals is to expose students of all grade levels to various college and career pathways. Our graduation rate is typically greater than 90 percent in any given year. GMU also has teamed up with the Clark Foundation and College For Every Student (CFES) to raise educational aspirations through mentoring, school-college partnerships, scholarships, and student-leadership programs.
There are also plenty of extra- and co-curricular activities available to students. Of special note, GMU prides itself on a strong musical program and an award-winning band among its celebrated music program.
What is best for students is at the forefront of all decisions here at GMU!
