Track standouts honored for breaking school records

Brennan Finch and Hannah Bonczkowski (2023)

Congratulations to GMU senior athletes Brennan Finch and Hannah Bonczkowski for breaking school records during the 2023 outdoor track and field season!

Both literally climbed to the top June 13, using a ladder to reach the school record board hanging high on the back wall of the gymnasium before sliding their nameplates into Raiders’ history.

Brennan completed the 3,000-meter boys steeplechase in 11 minutes, 19.78 seconds during the Tri-Valley League Championships to break Gregory Talbot’s 2010 record of 11:42.6.

Hannah reset GMU’s 400-meter girls hurdles record with a Fully Automated Time (FAT) of 1:14.29 at the Section 4 State Qualifiers. Nakita Maraglio had held the girls 400 hurdles record since 2008, when she crossed in 1:14.5.

This moment took place on the last day of instruction for students in Grades 7-12, but we’ll see Brennan and Hannah again real soon as the Class of 2023 is set to graduate June 23 in the auditorium.
