The Catskill Area School Study Council recently printed the 2019-2020 works of five GMU middle school students in its annual publications.

Poetry by eighth-graders Kadence Canfield, Alexis Clement and Ella Thatford and seventh-grader Emma Peck appears in the CASSC’s 2019-2020 regional creative writing publication, The Catskill Review. Additionally, an illustration by sixth-grader Kylee O’Connell appears in Kites & Kings, the CASSC’s annual collection of student prose, poetry and artwork.

Poems for The Catskill Review were composed during a writing workshop in Aimee Piedmonte’s English class. The workshop challenged students to explore the idea of "Where I'm From."

"I am proud of the hard work that these writers did to craft these pieces of art,” Mrs. Piedmonte said. “Each created a beautiful, powerful poem that speaks about the complexity of life. How brave! These young writers can take pride that they are published authors!"

Kylee’s Kites & Kings illustration, titled “Kawaii Mushroom,” was submitted by GMU Sixth-Grade Teacher Becky Acla.

Congratulations to all on a job well done!
